Better diets can help beat depression

A new study indicates a strong connection between diet and mental health. There is a link between the gut and the brain (i.e., the “gut–brain axis”), and 90% of the serotonin we produce is in the gut. So, anything we do to improve our gut health will also help the brain. A Mediterranean diet was found to be more effective than befriending therapy to improve quality of life scores for young men with moderate to severe depression in a 12-week randomized controlled trial.
