Which is better, intermittent fasting or low calorie diets?

either... depends on your fancy.

Intermittent fasting may be beneficial for some individuals (it wasn't for me), but recent research reveals it is no more successful than other types of dieting.

In a recent research published in the New England Journal of Medicine, researchers compared dieters on intermittent fasting to others on a low-calorie diet who ate whenever they wanted.

The average weight loss for all participants was 14 to 18 pounds. Body fat and lean body mass measurements were improved in both cases. There was no statistically significant difference in the amount lost between the groups,

However, intermittent fasting seems to curb appetite, which can help people eat less. It lowers the level of ghrelin, a hunger hormone in the stomach, improves appetite control and increases fat-burning over a 24-hour period.

One thing is clear, when trying to lose weight, earlier is better. Eating earlier helps us be in sync with our body's circadian rhythms and promotes weight loss. Most weight loss experts advise not eating after 7 or 8 p.m.
